<div>Many lives lost, families missing, entire neighbourhoods submerged, homes destroyed, belongings swept away, and families displaced overnight. Many people are left with nothing no shelter, no food, and nowhere safe to turn. They are living through unimaginable fear, loss, and uncertainty.

<div>As someone with many family members living in Sri Lanka, this tragedy is deeply personal to me. Seeing the homes where we shared so many beautiful memories with our grandparents now destroyed has been heartbreaking. Watching my loved ones trying to save whatever little they could from a lifetime of hard work, and hearing how some had to flee in the middle of the night as floodwaters rushed into their homes while they were sleeping, no family deserves to experience this kind of fear, loss, and helplessness.
