Help Soul Food Farm- LNU Complex Fire

Donation protected
As we have come to process this last week, moving from shock to resigned acceptance, we are finding our way towards focusing on putting the farm back together. We are deeply grateful for everyone who has reached out and for those who have helped our friends and neighbors that were affected during the LNU Complex Fire.

Knowing there are many whose situations are more devastating than ours- our home and olive orchard survived-we have been holding off launching any fundraiser. However, we have come to the realization that if Soul Food Farm is going to make it through this time, we need to accept the support of our community as well.  We understand and appreciate that for so many, Soul Food Farm is valued, loved, and holds many happy memories.

2020 has been full of hardships and challenges for small businesses and farms alike, for us the wildfire was the last straw.  We have spent this week assessing the damages and the reality of what we can do to fix and restore Soul Food Farm.  We've lost all our irrigation piping, the lifeline to the farm, the SID pump, hundreds of trees,  fencing, as well equipment, tools, water troughs, and things that help us manage and run this farm and care for our animals. In no uncertain terms, it is heartbreaking and overwhelming but we are not shattered. Overall, we project about  $50,000 dollars worth of immediate need to address cleanup, repairs, removal, and replacements.  None of this, we have learned is covered by insurance and disaster aid is weeks, if not months away.

So many of you have reached out and have asked how to support Soul Food Farm, and we are deeply appreciative of anything that you can offer to help. This farm is not just a plot of land where we raised animals and grew a business,  for the past 20 years it has been our dream, our home,  where we raised our family and built community,  our life. As we stand here today, infinitely grateful, we are not ready to give up hope or our fight to save Soul Food Farm.

Thank you for everything
