Help SORBA-HSV Build Better Trails!

Calling all North Alabama mountain bikers, trail runners, hikers, dog walkers and outdoor enthusiasts! Do you enjoy our beautiful local trails? Would you like more of them? The Huntsville Chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycling Association (SORBA Huntsville http://sorbahuntsville.org/ ) is asking for your help in raising funds to purchase a 6-way excavator blade that our volunteers can use to build and maintain a variety of current and future trail-work projects.
Who Are We?
SORBA Huntsville is non-profit organization that works closely with our local land managers at Monte Sano State Park, The Land Trust of North Alabama, the city of Huntsville, Forever Wild and other private land owners to provide expertise and volunteer hours building and maintaining many miles of trails in your favorite parks and public lands for the access and enjoyment of all trail users!
Why We Need Your Help!
Until now, we have built trails by hand, or on occasion rented the specialized equipment that we need – if we can even find it locally. By purchasing our own excavator blade, we can use it either with the equipment owned by Alabama State Parks or with any locally rented equipment when and wherever it’s needed, thus saving the high initial cost and longer-term maintenance costs of a complete machine. Having our own blade will help us be more efficient and increase our productivity during precious volunteer hours.
This type of blade is also key and very unique for trail building in that unlike the common fixed and 4-way blades, it can pivot in more directions allowing it to cut out the correct trail side slope needed for proper drainage, thereby reducing erosion and building in long term sustainability of the trail.
Our goal is to raise $6000 to purchase the blade, so please give what you can to help us maintain and improve the many miles of wonderful existing trail we already have, and to build many more miles of sweet single-track!
