My name is Ryan Hernandez. I am from California, and I am raising money for my sister and her family who recently lost their home and possessions to a fire. Sophia, her husband, and children were enjoying the Christmas season and had been out admiring Christmas lights in the surrounding communities. They returned home and discovered the power was out in half of their town. Due to the cold, they put on the generator to heat their home so the kids would be warm and less afraid of the darkness. "Was" is the operative word as something went wrong, and the generator exploded, resulting in flames erupting throughout their home. In a matter of seconds, they lost so much. By the grace of God, they were able to get out of the house wearing their pajamas and grabbing a set of car keys. My niece and nephew were terrified as they watched their house burn and their dad trying unsuccessfully to extinguish the fire. Luckily thanks to the fast act of the firemen they were able to contain part of their home. They lost a lot to the fire, smoke and water damage. Despite the damages and tragedy we are grateful that they are safe. They currently live in Mississippi, and we are in California, so coming home is not an option as their jobs, schools, and lives are there. I am hoping to appeal to anyone that can offer any help for them as rebuilding your life is challenging.
