Help Soon and Family Fight Stage 4 Colon Cancer

Donation protected
Hi Everyone,

We are reaching out to all who are willing because we are raising money for my dear Cousin Soon.

This amazing family, whom we all love and adore, have been in a fight of their lives for the past 3 years, and for my Cousin Soon’s life as he battles with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. A battle that has become all too familiar to so many of us, a battle fighting cancer.

Soon was diagnosed with Colon Cancer Stage 4 during a routine colonoscopy examination at the end of February 2018. Colon resection surgery to remove 8 inches of colon was then performed at Northside Hospital in March 2018.

As it was Stage 4, the colon cancer had metastasized to the Liver and Soon did a liver surgery in August 2018 to remove 20% on the left and 20% on the right side of the liver with 4 ablations at Emory Hospital. As liver regenerates, after about one month plus the liver grew back to normal size.

Soon had been on chemo primarily for the lungs as the Colon Cancer nodules had also spread to the lungs. Been through chemo for the last two years, with a Phase 2 clinical trial from February 2020 through November 2020 and recently with a Phase 1 clinical trial with Inhibitor FLT3 drug from November to December 2020. Unfortunately, the Inhibitor FLT3 drug did not work, and the CEA Cancer marker jumped from 197 to 1,475 and the size of the colon cancer nodules in the lungs also increased in size causing breathing issues and requiring oxygen usage. His Oncologist had setup chemo drug combination which started on December 23rd, 2020 as emergency infusion.

Next steps for Soon Colon Cancer Nodules treatment in the lungs is to go for treatment at either MD Anderson in Houston, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, or John Hopkins in Washington DC for Proton Ion Radiation Therapy in combination with chemotherapy. This Radiation Oncology treatment is self-pay as health insurance does not cover for any of these hospitals that are out of network.

In addition, Soon had applied to the Carbon Ion Radiation Therapy in Heidelberg Hospital in Germany. As Carbon Ion is 10 plus times heavier than proton, the radiation will cover a larger area of the lungs. Mayo Clinic is building a Carbon Ion Radiation Therapy center in Jacksonville, Florida but it is not scheduled to be ready for another 3 plus years.

Like most of us, their health insurance will cover some of the expenses, but this will be a long battle that will affect my Cousin’s family on so many levels.  Please help us raise money for this unexpected journey forced upon them and remove some of the financial burden from their shoulders so they can focus on getting our Cousin healthy.

Anything you are willing to donate will be graciously accepted.  We fully understand the current economic climate has affected many, so if you are not able to donate, all we ask is you repost or forward this on.

This ask, is not one we take lightly, this is extremely important and close to our hearts, so we respectfully request any and all assistance to help them with this battle.

Let's show them our love and support is unconditional.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
