Help Low Income Women With Cancer

This fund is the brainchild of Chris Cook - an amazing woman, loving mother, supportive sister and dear friend.
Recently Chris found a lump in her breast that turned out to be Breast Cancer. Chris decided to undergo a mastectomy in the hopes that the cancer could be removed. With the strength and determination that we have come to expect, Chris recovered quickly and gracefully from her surgery. Unfortunately the pathology reports came back showing that the cancer had spread into her nodes.
Chris will now be starting 4 chemo treatments with the first one on her birthday followed by 20 bouts of radiation. She is driven to beat the cancer and we know she will.
As many of us, or our loved ones are women in the 50’s, the chances of breast cancer affecting us or someone close to us is inevitable. It’s heartbreaking to get bad news each step of the way, from learning first that the lump isn't benign, to finding out that the cancer has spread, and finally to finding out that you need that dreaded chemo.
Chris is a lucky one. She has great medical coverage and an amazing network of family and friends to help her. This made her realize that there are other women who may not be so lucky, like low income moms who might not have family in town, who need rides, expensive parking, child support, housekeeping and meals.
What she would like is for people to donate here so she can give back and help other women less fortunate who will need support as they go through their own cancer journey.
To support her in this cause her sister Paula, and children Harry and Syd will also be shaving their heads to raise money, while Abby (the sensible one) will be cheering them on. So by donating, you are also recognizing this special act of kindness from these very brave souls (though all of them will rock the bald look)!
