My name is Sinéad O'Halloran and I am a 24 year old Irish cellist currently based in Germany. I am reaching out to you to ask for your kind help in raising the funds to purchase a 1780 English cello made by the luthier Benjamin Banks. Thanks to the generosity of private donors, I have so far fundraised 2/3rds of the funds, however with the deadline quickly approaching, I need your help to reach the final balance.
I immediately fell in love with this cello, being blown away by its incredible colour palette, rich tones and ability to project so well in big concert halls. As musicians, our instruments are our voices and hence finding an instrument that is such a good match is essential.
As I enter the next stage of my career, competing internationally and attending auditions with the hope of winning a position in one of the world's top ensembles, it will be invaluable for me to have access to such a top-quality instrument.
I would be extremely grateful for any assistance you can offer. I would absolutely love to add my own chapter to the 240 year legacy that this beautiful cello has had to date.
Sinéad O‘Halloran is currently Principal Cellist of the European Union Youth Orchestra. In 2016 she co-founded the Ortús Chamber Music Festival with violinist Mairéad Hickey, seeking to highlight the musical ability and innovation of young Irish musicians and composers while bridging connections with musicians around the world. She was recently selected by Maestro Ivan Fischer for the Budapest Festival Orchestra Apprenticeship Scheme. She has also performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Irish Chamber Orchestra, Spira Mirabilis & iPalpiti Ensemble of International Laureates. www.sineadohalloran.com
