Hi everyone, as some of you may know Simon, Matt and I’s cat, was at an emergency veterinary hospital a couple of months ago (March) for a block in his urethra, caused by an abnormal crystal formation in his urine. This blocks the urine pathway, and in doing so his bladder will continue to fill until it rips open, and devastatingly enough, fatality is the result.
Simon has unfortunately blocked again, and we are reaching out to you again for help with his medical expenses. Luckily, because Matt and I knew what to look for, we caught it early, but Simon is going to require more of us this time around. His doctor at Pet Care East is advising he have emergency surgery (perineal urethrostomy) to create a wider opening in his urethra and his penis so this does not occur again.
We want this for Simon. He deserves to continue to live his life free without pain and without having to go through the intense stress brought on by admitting him to an ER setting every 3-4 months. That route is not an option for either of us.
I am hoping to hear back from Pet Care East this morning about the possibility of getting him transferred to The Community Veterinary Clinic supported by the Humane Society of Sonoma County to have his surgery, but Matt and I will need to qualify for their program as it is a sliding scale intended for low income families who cannot afford veterinary care.
In the mean time, please, if you can, help us raise the money needed for my boy. Matt and I love him so much, he is the kindest, warmest, sweetest most precious boy on this planet. He is my heart and soul. Neither of us wish to say goodbye, but the humane thing to do would be euthanasia if he cannot receive his full care or his surgery. That is of course the last thing anyone wants, but we are trying our best to remain positive and empathetic. If this does go down that route, these funds will help provide for his end of life services. Please share and donate if you are able. Thank you.
