Help Sherrie Beat Her Colorectal Cancer

Please help me beat my Colorectal Cancer

I will not be able to work until at least the last round of chemo is completed which will be 6-8 months depending on healing time and side effects.  Asking for donations on Go Fund Me is the hardest request I have ever made.  I have short term disability from work which will end soon.  At this time I will become very financially challenged as this disease has almost exhausted my savings.  I have never been this scared and afraid of how I will be able to live and pay all of my medical expenses so I am asking for your help.  No amount is too small and will be greatly appreciated.

I had bi-annual blood work come back showing extreme iron deficiency anemia (5%  - with the recommended level being at least 20%) secondary to chronic blood loss. A 2nd round of blood tests confirmed the initial abnormal results on September 20 and I have been unable to work since this date.  I went to St Petersburg Gastroenterology Center where I had 2 procedures performed, a Colonoscopy and an EGD (Endogastroduodenoscopy) to try and pinpoint what was causing the internal bleeding.

I was hoping for a bleeding ulcer but was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer on October 3, 2019.  The next step in the process was to have a CT scan, Ultrasound and PET Scan of the colon and surrounding organs to determine the stage of cancer and to determine if it has spread to other organs.  All of these procedures showed that the malignancy was attached to the outer wall and was approximately stage 2+.  The PET scan showed that the malignancy was glowing which meant that the cancer was dividing and spreading rapidly.  The PET scan results required aggressive and urgent treatment.  I had 1200 doses of radiation and 576 hours of 5-FU chemo and am still experiencing painful side effects.

On 1/17/20 I will have another PET scan and this will hopefully show that the malignancy has not spread into the lymph nodes or other organs.  Pre-op with multiple blood tests and an EKG will be 1/28 with more tests to be performed at my Chemo Oncologist's office on 2/3.

On 2/5 I will have the 1st of 2 surgeries at St. Anthony's Hospital - laparoscopic sigmoid/low anterior resection (removal of about half of my colon) with diverting loop ileostomy. The hospital stay will be 4-6 days maybe longer. Once the resection is healed a 2nd surgery will be done to reverse the ileostomy.

The surgeries will be followed by 4 more months of chemo - 5-FU, Oxaliplatin, and Leucovorin (Adjuvant FOLFOX chemotherapy benefits stage III colon cancer patients. However, it still results in side effects and increased cost).  The 5-FU will be administered with the pump and the other 2 chemo drugs will be administered by IV infusion.

Thank you for anything you can do to help and please feel free to share the link to my Go Fund Me page.
