Help Shelter the Dogs of West Phx

For the last 15 years, I have been involved in the world of dog rescue in the west valley area of Phoenix, AZ. This area is made up of several small communities and towns. The need for rescue in this area is huge! There are no county or city animal shelters and the county is actually closing one of their Phoenix shelters. Everyday, we hear pleas for adoption because the shelters are full. Many of the local rescue organizations have banded together to help with this immense problem.

The “AZ WEST K9 Support Center” is designed to be a support system for dogs who have been abused, neglected, abandoned or have special needs. Along with adoption, the purpose of the center is to provide lifetime care and sheltering of animals who are unable to find homes.

The dogs will receive nurturing attention in a secure, homelike setting with a comfy kennel area and will be free to move about, interacting with one another, volunteer staff members, and other humans who visit the center. The perimeter of the property will be fenced to provide security and protection for the animals. As the program develops, a system of foster homes and day care will be set up under the direction and support of the Center.

An intergenerational(older dogs) children’s program to educate the public on the responsibilities of pet ownership, spay/neuter programs, and the special rewards of fostering or adopting an older dog will be utilized under the supervision of some of our “teacher and mom” volunteers.

A large component of the physical Support Center site will involve working with local veterans, military service members and their special needs, such as deployment boarding, emergency day care or canine training needs.

Right now, our biggest need is to acquire a site and to create the facility. The programs are being disseminated on a limited basis as home based space allows.

This campaign will allow us to begin the creation of this much needed project in our Southwest Valley community. Please join us in our efforts and contribute as you are able. Remember, every bit of your donation will go to helping our wonderful dogs. Even $10 can pay for vaccinations or microchipping! $20 buys a bag of food and/or bedding. Your larger gifts will help with construction and set up…..it’s a big goal, but together, we can make it happen!

We are in the process of acquiring our 501(C)3 designation and donations are tax deductible from 10/01/2818.
