Our mom is one of the most important people in our lives and the lives of so many others.  <br />
<div><br />Thank you for taking the time to visit and share this GoFundMe page for our mom, Shellie Thomas.  For those of you who are not aware or don’t know her, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer three days after Christmas.  As you can imagine, this news is… agonizing.  <br /><br />She is a devoted wife, mother of 5, grandmother to 14, great grandmother, friend, and confidant who is loved by many.  For years, she has been the strongest, most giving person in the family, the one person everyone can depend on.  It does not matter who you are.  If you need advice, a shoulder to cry on, support, or love, you can count on her.  There are at least 23 people that call her their favorite person in the world, no exaggeration.  That’s a testament to the kind of unconditional love, help, and acceptance she gives.<br />
<div><br />Now the tables have turned.  Our mom is the one who needs help.<br /><br />At the age of 59, when she should start taking it easy, she has entered the battle of her life, literally.  On top of the stress and emotion of a new diagnosis of cancer, she is having trouble with health insurance.  Although we, her family, are working hard on taking care of everything, including paperwork, care, love, support mentally and financially, the out-of-pocket cost is too great  Sadly, even we can get insurance established, only a small portion of the life-saving treatments are covered.    <br /><br />This GoFundMe campaign is all about helping our mom get the best, most promising treatments possible.  We also do not want her to worry that treating her cancer will leave her family burdened with debt.  <br /><br />We are urgently asking you to join us in helping her.  We appreciate any donations, big and small. Whatever you feel comfortable giving WILL make a difference, and WILL be gratefully appreciated.  Every penny will be going to her care, treatments, and travel expenses that are already mounting and will continue to be incurred throughout her journey to fight and beat this disease.  <br /><br />As much love is being given to our mom, there’s not enough to match what she is still giving.  Please send love and prayers to her.  <br /><br />Thank you for reading our mom’s story!
