UPDATE: WOW!!! We have hit our target, this is so great! Thank you to all who donated and shared the campaign, your support has been truly overwhelming. We will leave the donations page open for one more week so if anyone else wants to donate please do- this money will still go towards buying the van as they cost closer to £10 000, so the more we can raise the less Shaun and Jade need to find to add themselves. My friends, my community, my family. I call upon you to stand together in a time of need.
Those of you who know Shaun and Jade Dunbar will already be well aware that the past year has been very difficult for them, with Shaun being diagnosed with leukaemia and the consequential fight to regain health that has ensued. It has been a hard road to travel, and currently Shaun is having chemo 7 days out of every 28 to fight the illness.
They have asked the universe for healing vibes, and we would like to play midas and turn those vibes into downright dirty cash, to enable them to buy a small diesel campervan so they can travel around to see their friends and family in the coming months, and tick a few things off Shaun's bucket list.
The dream is: a small camper, not a monstrous motorhome. It needs to be diesel for economy and not too long a wheelbase. It needs to have a long MOT and not too high mileage so it is mechanically reliable. Fridge and a cooker are essential, and a toilet would be nice. It also needs to be easy to keep clean as Shaun's immune system is low. All things considered, it can't just be "any old van", it has to suit their needs.
They've been looking at vans already for a time as they planned to do this without our help, but all the suitable vans are around £8000-10 000 which is quite a lot of money. So we decided to ask you, Shaun and Jade's friends, friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends, to help them in achieving this by contributing a little bit to the cause. They have a few thousand saved themselves, but can't quite stretch the whole way. Please share the campaign far and wide, and donate generously. It means a lot.
