Help Shannon kick cancer’s butt

As many know, or for those who don’t know my sweet momma has been battling Stage 4 Lung Cancer since early last year.  She has went through countless chemotherapies, immunotherapy, and radiation as well as changed her diet & life style to try to beat this terrible disease. She has been seen at Pearson Cancer Center, UVA and Duke after continuous scans the cancer is only spreading. The cancer continues to grow in her lungs and she had spots on her brain recently as well as multiple lymph nodes. This past scan we were told she has exhausted all treatments and the only thing left to do is a trial that is located in Boston, MA. Mom was called last week and asked if she can come immediately as one of the three patients could not start the trial so as of Sept 12 mom & Fred will be traveling to Boston for this treatment. Since this is not a pharmaceutical trial they have to pay for their own lodging, travel, food etc while up there. It is an investigative trial through Dana Farber Cancer Center. She will have to be up there 35 – 40 days and then the trial will require her to go back and forth about 2x a month after she completes this first step. The average cost for a room with parking in Boston is around 400.00 but since she is being treated by Dana Farber she qualifies for a discounted, fully furnished facility that will only charge 189.00 a night plus 14.00 a day in parking. The cost to stay after taxes is going to be close to 10,000.00 not counting travel, food, and keeping up the bills back home. Mom is not the one to ask people for help and honestly she is going to be upset with me for doing this but I know that deep down she deserves it. Mom has always been the one to help EVERYONE and the last thing she needs to worry about right now is accommodations while she is doing a trial to hopefully stop the spread of this nasty disease.  My mom has remained positive throughout this whole ordeal, even after bad news after bad news. She will not give up and is going to go to Boston & Kick Cancer’s Butt. All proceeds raised will go directly to the lodging expenses for the duration of their stay to help ease the financial stresses that come along with this trial. We did not expect this to happen especially so soon and the last thing I want my mom to stress about is money. This is one of our last options for treatment, any donation, thought , prayer etc is greatly appreciated. God is on our side and I know he will see my mom through this no matter what.
