Shania is a loving, goofy, spunky, and energetic 4-year-old Cocker Spaniel who has always brought so much joy to our family. She’s the youngest of our three cocker spaniels - Sadie, Olive, and Shania - who we lovingly call “the triplets.” Shania was the runt of her litter, but she’s always had the biggest personality. Her wiggly butt and puppy-like energy make every day brighter, and she’s happiest when she’s playing in the yard with her sisters, chasing bugs & birdwatching, or greeting us at the door with her favorite toy in her mouth. She truly is my best friend.

Everything changed when she woke up one morning and was trembling, panting, and unable to use her back legs. Our hearts broke as we rushed her to the vet, who diagnosed her with severe IVDD - intervertebral disc disease, a condition where the discs in the spine become damaged and can cause pain, nerve damage, or even paralysis. Shania had no deep pain sensation in her rear legs or back. We were referred to a neurological specialist, and the costs for her MRI and surgery are overwhelming.

These funds will go directly toward Shania’s surgery and medical care. We love her as much as anyone else in our family - she is our babygirl. When the vet discussed euthanasia, I broke down completely. I know in my heart that we have to do everything we can for her. She is too young, too sweet, and too loved to give up on.
