From Athens to Glasgow, Geneva to Washington DC, our SFT team has been tirelessly countering the Chinese government at the largest international platforms, activating new youth leaders, and raising Tibet on every stage possible. <div>Let’s take a look at the work SFT has accomplished together with your support in 2021. <strong>This year, SFT’s direct actions in Greece calling for a Beijing 2022 boycott were covered by 48+ major international news outlets including </strong><a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/21/sports/basketball/celtics-kanter-china-tibet.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>New York Times</strong></a><strong> and </strong><a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/18/sport/protesters-arrested-athens-beijing-2022-spt-intl/index.html?fbclid=IwAR0B1Oa17Mavs9fZjizg0S3fn2zIyt87dxJhZnCFW3iTpsCKzJ4V0DLjZps" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>CNN</strong></a><strong> </strong> raising global awareness that a genocidal regime is hosting the Winter Olympics. In particular, I was so inspired by the unwavering commitment and powerful voices of the young SFT activists that took a stand in Greece. Despite being face to face with the Chinese government officials, facing detention or even imprisonment, the commitment of SFT’s team of young Tibetan and Hong Kong activists remained unshaken.

<div><strong>Here are some of the milestones we accomplished together this year!</strong>

<div>1. <strong>200+ Rights groups</strong> representing Tibetans, Uyghurs, Hong Kongers, Southern Mongolians, Taiwanese, Chinese and international organizations called on their governments and the international community to join the Boycott Beijing 2022 Campaign.

<div>2. <strong>Tashi Wangchuk was released from prison</strong> after suffering for 5 years in prison. Tashi’s safe and on-time release is the direct result of supporters putting immense pressure on their governments to monitor and support his case.
</div>

<div>3. Following years of campaigning from SFT chapter members and local activists, <strong>Tufts and Portland State University were among the 27 US universities that made the decision to shut down their Confucius Institute!</strong>

<div>4. SFT launched <strong>Tweets for Tibet</strong>, a creative initiative that forced China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support Tibet.

<div>5. SFT, along with our allies Hong Kong Watch and Campaign for Uyghurs, were awarded an incredible honor, the<strong> World Movement for Democracy Courage Tribute</strong>!

<div>6. In November, <strong>Enes Kanter became the 1st NBA player to call on the International Olympic Committee to move the Beijing 2022 Winter Games after meeting with SFT members in October</strong>. Enes also wore hand-painted sneakers by SFT’s own grassroots member, student activist, and artist, Khenzom Alling, with messaging about the No Beijing 2022 campaign!

<div>7. SFT joined a powerful all-women delegation of five Tibetan climate experts, researchers, and activists to represent Tibet and share the urgency of the <strong>Tibet Climate Crisis at COP26</strong>, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.

<div>8. SFT hosted Free Tibet! Action Camp with 75 participants, volunteers, and trainers <strong>including community organizers and student leaders from Tibetan, Indigenous, Chinese, Kazakh, Kalmyk, Uyghur, and Hong Konger communities</strong>! This cross-movement Action Camp—featuring a comprehensive curriculum in grassroots organizing, campaign strategy, and nonviolent direct action—was the 1st of its kind.
