Growing up, my son Sergio didn’t get the chance to play competitive soccer, let alone play as a goalkeeper, which he really enjoyed playing recently. Soccer became more than just a sport—it has been an outlet to relieve the stress of his daily responsibilities in his career as a video editor and as a caregiver for me and his mother who has dementia.

Unfortunately, during a recent game, Sergio took a bad fall and fractured his wrist. He now needs surgery to regain full mobility. This injury directly impacts his livelihood. As a video editor, Sergio relies on both hands to create, edit, and produce his work. This has been a tough pill to swallow, especially with his work contract ending soon, leaving him uncertain about how to cover the mounting medical costs.

While soccer comes with its risks, it didn’t let the fear of injury hold him back. Despite this setback, he expresses having no regret about taking the leap and playing the game he loves that helped with coping with his stress.

This GoFundMe campaign is our way of rallying around Sergio during this difficult time. The funds will go directly toward the costs of surgery, rehabilitation, and helping him regain his strength and independence.

Estoy buscando apoyo durante un momento difícil.

Mi hijo Sergio no tuvo la oportunidad de jugar fútbol competitivo de joven, y mucho menos de jugar como arquero, una posición que ha disfrutado recientemente.
