Help Serenity Study Abroad In Italy.

Hi, my name is Serenity, I am a high school senior who lives in New York City. Throughout my four years of high school, I have been working hard to maintain my placement on the principal's honor roll with a grade point average of 3.5 since freshman year. I am also an artist who majors in fashion at the High School of Fashion Industries. I do my best to give back to my community by being a mentor, ambassador at my school, and volunteer at my local Children's Aid, where I also worked as the art teacher throughout the summer till early winter.

I am fundraising for the opportunity to study abroad in Italy. My school is partnered with this program, called the FUA Pre-College Program, which is located in Florence, Italy. They take students from the US to Italy to get a taste of college life and 9 real college credits. The credits I receive are transferable to the college I will attend when I get back home in America, the City College Of New York where I will be majoring in Psychology and minoring in Journalism. This will be the 1st trip the program is having after the pandemic and my last chance at the opportunity because I am a high school senior. The farthest I’ve ever been away from home is maybe New Jersey, so this will be my 1st time traveling for real. Even though there would be a big shift in my day to day I feel ready because I grew up in a city that is a melting pot of culture. Going to Italy is a great way to kick off my college career because I will be living the college life for a month, experiencing independence, and in a new setting.

Going abroad to Italy is very important to me because I can participate in hands-on learning on topics like Sociology and Journalism.

Going to Italy will fulfill a lifelong dream to be able to travel and give me life and educational skills that I will use for the rest of my life. When I get to pursue Journalism as part of my career I’d like to travel the world and report on topics important to me. I also plan to make a short film about my time studying abroad.

Getting this donation will be a gift that I cherish for the rest of my lifetime, the money will go to travel, tuition, room, board, and food.
