Help Send Dover Scout to WSJ 2019

Our Scout Group where George from St Margaret’s and Elizabeth from Shepherdswell have been selected, along with 124 other participants, to represent Kent at the 24th World Scout Jamboree hosted by Canada, Mexico and the USA in West Virginia, USA in 2019.
The World Scout Jamboree is an international event that brings together the world’s young people. For 10 days, 45,000 young people work together from all nations in the world (bar 6), to find out about each other’s’ cultures and faiths, learn new skills, take part in adventurous activities and grow as global citizens to tackle some of the biggest issues facing the world today. The theme of the Jamboree is “Unlock A New World”.
Each participant needs to raise £3,945 to attend the Jamboree, which incidentally is the number of miles from our scout hut to the campsite. A significant portion of the fee from each UK Scout is used to assist Scouts from Third World nations to attend the event.
Fundraising is an important part of this life building experience and the scout groups are working together to plan, implement and meet this challenging target over the next 18 months. As part of our fundraising programme, we are planning quizzes, egg hunts, cake sales, and much more. However, we will realistically also need to find some corporate and charitable support too. We will be working with the local press and any support will be recognized.
We understand that there are many competing demands on funds, but we would appreciate if you could make a donation to help Scouts worldwide and Dover in particular to be represented at the world’s biggest peace conference.
