Hello Supporters & Donors,

Help Amanda Find Her Voice!

Thank you so much for clicking on this GoFundMe page via any of the social media you come from and considering donating. It means a lot to me that you would take time out of your busy day to read this. I would appreciate your help in finding my voice <3

So what's my story & why am I asking for your help in summary?

My name is Amanda Anderson, I was born  Deaf and I learned early in life not to see this as an obstacle but an opportunity to achieve greatness. I graduated from Lister Mair/ Gilby High School for the Deaf in 2016 and 2018 and Quality Academics, a private school, in 2019. I am from the beautiful island of Jamaica, a small country with a big heart in the developing world. I have always dreamed of attending art college since I was nine years old.

I want to raise $45000 USD so that I can achieve one of my biggest dreams. I have always wanted to further my education by attending college in the United States of America. This is because being a deaf student in the small island of Jamaica the possibility of receiving tertiary education in Jamaica is very limited. Education has always been important to me and so I have high hopes to start my tertiary education at my dream university  Western Oregon University.

I have been accepted and would love to be able to pursue a double major in Dance and Art & Design. My passion for the arts has drawn me to continue my studies in the Art & Design and Dance fields. In the future, I will be a Dancer, Choreographer, Graphic Designer, and Entrepreneur and will use my platform and the skills gained at Western Oregon University to create new businesses to help people in the Deaf Community to have a better standard of living in my country, and worldwide, by providing them with opportunities to operate deaf-owned businesses.

Achieving this goal would give me the chance to show all the deaf children in the world that they can achieve anything they put their mind to.

According to Western Oregon University, Office of International Education & Development (OIED),  International Students are required to pay a total of US $45,000.

The funds are broken down below:

Tuition: $27,678
Room and Board: $10,389 (on-campus)
Books and Supplies: $1,200
Transportation and Personal Expense: $2,496
Mandatory International Health Insurance: $1,900
Other Fees: $1,337

I have always been an active person in my community despite whatever challenge life has thrown at me. With the help from family and friends, God and strangers I have been able to make it this far with whatever activity I choose to participate in. Visual and theatre arts are my biggest passion, below you can find visuals of me attending events and be able to participate and seize opportunities that have taught me life long lessons.-

I am seeking support to continue to train and educate myself in order to use my voice signing, in powerful and meaningful ways that give back to our deaf community to contribute to halting the deaf privilege crisis in its tracks by the advocate for the implementation of policy and technology that will safeguard our deaf lives, future, and environment. I am committed to using my voice signing as a tool to uplift our future generation for our rights, and those to come because now is the time for justice and now is the time for bold deaf privilege action.  This Fall 2021 I will be attending Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon and I will be double majoring in Art and Design and Dance.  so, However, the tuition is very high than what I expected after I researched it, this is the reason why I am reaching out to you because the total tuition for the Fall 2021 school year is $45,000 (including meal plan and housing). I am looking forward to leaving the island in September 2021, however, I must show that I can finance myself for the Academic year to the OIED.  I crave your assistance in doing so, I pray that you will give a generous donation and help me to make you all proud.

No matter how much I plan, work, and save, I just can't quite make it to the required total to pay for the Academic year to the OIED. That's why I am asking for your help. If you have any extra funds in your budget, that you would be willing to part with, I would be eternally grateful. Please help me to obtain the funds I will need to finance my school fees and to cover my cost of living while I attend university and also Please share it too. Thank you from the deepest place of my heart and for taking the time out of your day to read all of this statement. I really appreciate it! God bless you.
