Help Segen pay for school

Segen Welday is a bright, caring, fun, and incredibly determined young person in her freshman year of college at the University of Montana. She is studying pre-med with hopes to attend medical school and become a doctor. Segen was awarded a generous financial aid package as well as numerous scholarships, however she is in need of additional financial support in order to ensure that she can cover all the costs associated with school without having to overextend herself in the work force. Segen's scholarships require that she maintain at least 12 credits and a 3.0 GPA, therefore her primary focus is on her academics. We want to help alleviate some of her financial stress in order to allow her to both focus on her academics as well as enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

 

In June of 2021, Segen graduated with high honors from Garfield High School in Seattle. While Segen is like many young people her age, her high school experience was different from most kids -- moving from a refugee camp in Ethiopia where she lived after she and her family escaped from their home in Eritrea, moving from their first US home in Missoula, MT to the much more populated and culturally-diverse Seattle, and then enduring a global pandemic. Still, through all of this, Segen found work, athletics, friendship, and academic success.

 

Having fallen in love with the Missoula community, Segen wanted to come back to Montana for her college experience. She moved back home to Missoula in August, settling into the dorms, and beginning classes. She is learning all about on-campus services (including the food zoo!) and recreation opportunities both on and off campus. She is currently applying for jobs as well.

 

Please donate to help ease Segen's financial burden and give her the experience every college kid deserves! Additional financial support will be applied to the costs of housing and on-campus meal plans. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated!
