It's the usual story. A hard working writer finally types the last words - The End. But is it really? They show their work to friends and family who smile, node, read, and worry. Each keep their thoughts to themselves.
Thinking they have a best seller, the writer hires a hack of an editor who talks a good game. Throughout the edits the hack gushes about the work and convinces the writer to self-publish the work. They do, and no one purchases it. They read the first couple of sentences in the preview and walk away.
It is a common story. The writers have no way of polishing their work. And if they find someone to test read or critique the work it is a gamble the other person will actually finish. Or worse yet, they walk away from it all.
There are a lot of issues - no help to put them on the right path. This is where Scriptophobia comes in.
Where writers help writers in a supportive and encouraging community
A safe place for writers to get constructive critiques on their work.
When a writer joins, they help critique other writers. And as they gain points they can post their own work to get critiqued.
Built on the Laravel Framework, Scriptophobia will allow a writer to critique using a web interface similar to Microsoft Word with track changes turned on. This allows our writer to polish their work, get a fantastic manuscript, and publish work others will enjoy reading. But that's not all!
Scriptophobia brings writers together with an online community that shares ideas and information. Each gains knowledge from what the other has to offer. All this and links to vetted professionals to help.
That is the dream... and more is to come.
Currently we have the framework up and running with an introductory statement. The biggest issue is the programming, which is the cost factor.
By funding this project you'll allow us to hire local (North American) coders who will build the site from the ground up using the best applications they can create.
