If you know Scott Nusz, you know he is stubborn but a fighter! Scott is a veteran twice over having served in both the Air Force and the Army. He was on the ground serving during Operation Desert Storm and continues to serve today through his selfless dedication as an officer and leader with Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 846.
Less than one month ago, while having routine gall bladder surgery, Scott’s surgeon detected a rare and strange growth in his abdomen. After removing a section of the growth and having it tested, Scott was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Cancer (https://acpmp.org/about-acpmp).
This extremely rare form of the disease, also known as appendix cancer strikes only one in one million people each year.
The diagnosis and ensuing treatment was swift and serious. Scott was sent to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska to receive treatment from one of the best Oncologists in the country, Dr. Brian Loggie. Tuesday, April 24th, Scott was admitted to Creighton University Medical Center for a 7 hour procedure to treat this monster cancer.
Scott’s prognosis is great, given the early detection and treatment. However, his inability to work and mounting medical costs are of great concern.
Here’s where you come in! Scott and Mollie need our help to cover the cost of hotels, transportation, medical bills and any additional ongoing treatment. Every little bit counts and we so appreciate anything you are able to donate as Scott continues to fight this battle.
