Help Scott Battle Covid 19

Donation protected
Covid 19 has taken a great many lives over the past year. Recently it caught up with Scott. The week of February 14th started with some mild symptoms. Dani & Scott both went to get tested for Covid 19, they were both positive.  Both Dani and Scott experienced the worsening symptoms. By Wednesday the 24th Scott was having trouble breathing and Dani made the decision to take him to St. Johns hospital. After getting him checked in the the ER Dani was not able to stay with him due to the Covid restrictions and the fact that she was still positive herself. Dani has not been able to be with Scott as his condition has worsened. When he was admitted To St. John's Scott's oxygen was at 77 and he was diagnosed with pneumonia, caused by Covid.

He was transferred from St. John's to St. Joe's hospital so that he could receive care from the hospital dedicated to Covid treatment. His stats continued to decline as well as now having bacteria in his lungs and blood.

He was recently transferred to the University of Minnesota. The U of M is one of the 7 hospitals in the state to have an ECMO circuit machine. The ECMO machine works by inserting a plastic tube into a large vein of the patient. This tube allows for the patient's blood to flow out into an oxygenator, or artificial lung. This machine the last effort in treating Covid 19 patients. He basically has a machine oxygenating his blood because his body is not capable of doing it at the moment. He has had several other issues popping up while they have him on the ECMO machine, there is a high risk of other infection. The doctors and nurses in the ICU are doing all they can for Scott.

His wife Dani is doing her best to sort out bills, benefits, and financials while Scott battles this horrible virus. But she is struggling to get all of the financial issues while she waits on the calls from Scott's doctors for updates to his condition. It would mean so much to Scott and Dani to have a bit of breathing room with the future being so uncertain.

Just a little bit about Scott:
Besides being a husband, father and general bad ass, Scott was a first responder for the Cottage Grove Fire Department. He worked his way up the ranks from Firefighter to Lieutenant, to Captain of Station 4 (as it was know in the day). He was a huge part of training and growing of the CGFD. He became a huge advocate of the "Duty Crew" where the firefighters sleep at the station so they can respond  to emergencies with better response time. Prior to the creation of the Duty Crew  Scott would respond to emergencies from his home. The crew knew that they never had to worry if Scott was going to show up, he always did. He put himself on the line to help others. Some would say that he was the oil that made things run smooth during his time with the CGFD. He is everybody's friend or as JB said to me "he is a respected best buddy, we are a family". Weather in the fire house, cabin, home or in the boat Scott always there to depend on.
