Help Save Yorkie

Donation protected
Yorkie is very adventurous. He loves going on trips and running around freely. He loves anyone that comes to pet him and give him attention, and will bark until you do. He’s a very caring dog and is always there to give you comfort. He loves food and will sit like a good boy for more. He’ll dance with you when there is music, or he’ll sit next to you peacefully. He’s a very active dog, and is always very curious about his surroundings. He loves to play tug-o-war, and have you chase him with his toys. In the mornings, he will wake up and stretch, then nudge you to wake you up for cuddles, just like he does when he goes to sleep at night.

Late November, Yorkie was alone, and attempted jumping down from one of his beds in the basement and fell down on the (concrete) floor, likely landing on his back. Bianca's brother called for him to come upstairs, but only heard cries, and Yorkie never came. He found Yorkie laying motionless on the floor, so they took him to the animal ER immediately. They have done bloodwork, a tick borne illness test, a urine test, and chest x-rays, but everything has come back normal so far, and according to his examination he is healthy. Unfortunately, Yorkie continues to have difficulty with movements since his fall. He will try to force himself to get up when Bianca comes home and try to wag his tail, but is mostly immobile. Bianca and her family do not want to leave him suffering if he doesn't improve and can't get the care he needs.

The veterinarian worries he could have fractured or broken a part of his spine, or that there could be something else bothering him like a tumor. The veterinarian would like to do an MRI of his spine and his head to pinpoint what exactly is going on, and to determine if surgery/additional medication is needed. The MRI's could cost up to $3,000 (which would be done at the University of Minnesota), and if surgery is needed, or additional medications are prescribed, this would cost up to an additional $4,000. Just to be on the safe side, we've set our goal for $7,500. If Yorkie doesn't end up needing surgery, or it isn't an option, we will refund/reverse any donations received after the goal cost of the MRI's is met.

Yorkie's mom, Bianca, is a very kind-hearted and soft-spoken person that selflessly cares for others. She is currently working multiple jobs while studying for her college degree. Her family is struggling with finances, and she cannot afford the costs to continue these additional tests for her baby.

Although their relationship started off rocky, and they weren't sure they liked one another, with time they became inseparable. He became her best friend. They would go out on adventures together and he would try to impress his mom by challenging himself to climb and jump like any big dog could. He's been with and helped her through many difficult times in her life. He taught her that no matter how bad something is, she should always keep fighting, because he always got back up when he was hurt or sick. He brings her peace and happiness. She loves him and can't imagine her life without him.

Any support you can provide is greatly appreciated! This is an extremely difficult time for Bianca and her family. If you can't afford to donate at this time, please consider sharing the fundraiser on Facebook or other social media pages.
