Help save Wax Bar and Ollie Food and Spirits

After operating businesses in Ypsilanti's Historic Depot Town for close to 10 years, the current health crisis has left us without the ability to pay our employees, rent, bills, mortgage or our most basic daily needs. The first round of Covid in March of 2020 forced us to shutter Ollie Food and Spirits and Cream & Crumb; laying off all of our employees and leaving us with the burden of continuing to fulfill the obligation of our lease and utilities, etc. without the ability to operate. This is a business that we built with the guiding principal of celebrating our diverse community, supporting our local music scene and trying our best to contribute in any way we can to Ypsilanti; the the city we love.
In august 2020, struggling to pick-up the pieces, we opened Wax Bar in the space once housing Cream and Crumb (our ice cream and sweets shop) with hopes of remaining in business to cover our debts and continue to pay our lease until we are able to sell Ollie Food & Spirits. The community has graciously supported us in our goal of providing unique cocktails, and sharing our love of music and records.
Today with the ongoing pandemic, state mandates of closure, etc. we are again faced with the reality that we are unable to sustain. We fully support the restrictions put in place by State health authorities and Governor Whitmer. We agree that the only way to save lives and ultimately overcome the ravages of Covid 19 is to quarantine, wear masks when we must leave the house and bond together to support the health and safety our our neighbors.
We humbly ask for your support during this unprecedented time. Our hopes are that we can raise enough money to pay our bills and lease throughout the winter, and provide the wages owed to our employees- all of which we are currently behind on.
We believe that if we can make it through this winter- which is difficult for small business regardless of health crisis- that we can persevere and continue to provide our goods and services to the community we love.
