<div>My name is Mohammed Abed. My family consists of eighteen people, including eight children. We are currently living in tents within a refugee camp in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

<div>Before the Israeli government decided to perpetrate a genocide against the civilian population, our home was located in northern Gaza. There, we were happy, building a life full of anecdotes that have now become memories. When the bombing started, we were forced to leave our home in a desperate effort to save our lives. So far, we have been displaced four times. We learned that our house and the whole area where we used to live have been destroyed.

<div>We lost our patrimony, and we have no means of support. Day-to-day, we survive in an area also under siege by the Israeli government. In Gaza, hunger is already widespread, and food is very scarce. There is no drinking water, no medicine. We are terrified and stressed all the time, feeling that we could fall prey to brutality at any moment.

<div>In the face of this, my father fought to rescue us. His name was Kamal Abed. He lived in Mexico (and was a Mexican citizen), where he worked to help us get ahead. As soon as Israel started the massacre in Gaza, my father mobilized as best he could, being an elderly person with health problems, seeking help from the Mexican authorities for our evacuation. After no progress was achieved, his anguish made him fly to Egypt and go the Mexican Embassy. He hoped they would assist him, but that was not the case. The news was devastating to him, and his health could not take more despair and helplessness. My father died in Cairo on March 6, alone and full of pain for not having seen his loved ones freed from the hell that Gaza has become today.

<div>We live at the mercy of barbarism. My mother has serious health issues: She is blind and can barely move. Among us is a newborn baby, a one-year-old baby, and six children eager to sleep peacefully. They are all deserving of a dignified life.

<div>Mi nombre es Mohammed Abed. Mi familia la integramos dieciocho personas, entre ellas ocho menores de edad. Actualmente vivimos en tiendas de campaña, dentro de un campo de refugiados en Rafah, al sur de la Franja de Gaza.

<div>Antes de que el gobierno de Israel decidiera perpetrar su genocidio contra la población civil, nuestra familia tenía su hogar al norte de Gaza. Ahí fuimos felices, construyendo una vida llena de anécdotas que hoy son recuerdos. Cuando iniciaron los bombardeos, nos vimos obligados a abandonar nuestro hogar en una lucha por salvar nuestras vidas. Hasta ahora, hemos sido desplazados cuatro veces. Hoy, sabemos que nuestra casa y toda la zona donde vivíamos están destruidas.

<div>Perdimos nuestro patrimonio y no tenemos sustento. Sobrevivimos el día a día en una zona también asediada por el gobierno israelí. En Gaza el hambre ya es generalizada, los alimentos son muy escasos. No hay agua potable, ni medicamentos. Todo el tiempo estamos aterrorizados y estresados, sintiendo que en cualquier momento la atrocidad podría alcanzarnos.

<div>Frente a esto, mi padre luchó por rescatarnos. Él era Kamal Abed, vivía en México (tenía la nacionalidad mexicana), donde trabajaba para sacar adelante a nuestra familia. Tan pronto Israel inició la masacre en Gaza, mi padre se movilizó como pudo, siendo un adulto mayor con problemas de salud, buscando que las autoridades mexicanas lo apoyaran con la evacuación de nosotros. Tras no haber avances, su desesperación lo orilló a volar hasta Egipto, donde acudió a la Embajada de México en aquel país. Él tenía la esperanza de que ahí lo auxiliaran, pero no fue así. Eso fue devastador, y su salud no resistió más angustia e impotencia. Mi padre falleció en El Cairo, el pasado 6 de marzo, solo y lleno de dolor por no haber visto a sus seres amados librados del infierno que hoy es Gaza.

<div>Vivimos a merced de la barbarie. Mi madre tiene graves problemas de salud, padece ceguera y apenas puede moverse. Entre nosotros hay una bebé recién nacida, un bebé de un año, y seis niños ansiosos por dormir con paz. Todos merecen una vida digna.
