<div><strong>Our Miracle, Your Impact</strong>
</div>
<div>Eighteen months ago, our daughter Esmé entered the world at just <strong>24 weeks</strong> gestation—a tiny 687-gram warrior given only a <strong>40% chance of survival</strong>. She was so small she could fit in the palm of your hand, her entire body covered in bruises from being born 16 weeks too soon.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the next four months in the Faro NICU's incubators, Esmé would face battles that no baby should have to fight. A brain hemorrhage. Two bouts of pneumonia. Retinal damage. Blood transfusions. Moments when we weren't sure she'd make it through the night.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/96646551_1763313756794554_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div>One of the nurses told us honestly: "We've had babies born at 24 weeks with brain injuries, infections, and damaged lungs who went on to become healthy children. We don't know what will happen, so all we can do is give her the best possible care."
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And that's exactly what they did. The extraordinary NICU team never gave up on her. With cutting-edge equipment, tireless dedication, and expert care, they didn't just save her life once—they saved it again and again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Today, Esmé is a thriving, joyful 18-month-old toddler.</strong> She crawls, she laughs, she bosses us about. She amazes us every single day. She is living, breathing proof that when premature babies receive exceptional care with the right equipment, they can defy the odds and beat statistics that would terrify any parent.

<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We can never fully repay the doctors and nurses who gave us our daughter back. But we can help them save even more precious lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Why This Matters</strong>
</div>
<div>The reality of premature birth:
</div>
<ul>
<li>1 in 10 babies worldwide are born premature ( 37 weeks of gestation and bellow)
</li>
<li>Premature birth is the leading cause of infant death in the first five years of life
</li>
<li>In Portugal, 1 in 14 babies are born too soon
</li>
<li>At Faro Hospital this year alone (through October), 308 babies were born premature—about 10% of all births in the Algarve
</li>
<li>Approximately 150 premature babies are admitted to the Faro NICU each year, with around 130 requiring intensive care
</li>
<li>Quality of care isn't just important: it's the difference between life and death, between a healthy future and lifelong disabilities.
</li>
</ul>

<div><strong>O Nosso Milagre, O Seu Impacto</strong>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Uma das enfermeiras disse-nos com sinceridade:
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Porque Isto Importa</strong>
</div>
<div>A realidade do parto prematuro:
</div>
<ul>
</li>
</li>
</li>
</li>
</li>
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>

</div>
</div>
</div>
