Help Save Timmy

Our beautiful little boy, TIMMY, has been struck down with IMMUNE-MEDIATED THROMBOCYTOPENIA (IMT). This is a very serious auto-immune disease whereby a dog's body attacks its own blood platelets, seeing them as a pathogenic bacteria or virus. Platelets are critical for blood clotting. When the platelet count is low or non-existent, severe bruising and uncontrolled bleeding can occur in the body. Excessive bleeding and bruising leads to anaemia and left untreated - death will occur.
This morning (13/1/17) we finally had a small sign of hope and TIMMY is undergoing his 4th blood transfusion as there was a slight improvement in his condition overnight, giving us a window of hope for a recovery and being able to eventually bring him home. In no way, are we out of the woods yet. To be able to continue with his treatments and give him the best chance possible, we need your help - blood transfusions alone cost approx $600-$800 a day, plus the cost of the other medications and treatment.

Monies raised will be used for his current expenses and for his ongoing treatment. Currently this sits at around $4000. TIMMY will need further blood transfusions to aid in his recovery. It is very much a day-by-day process, and boy, these days are pretty long.

The staff at BAROSSA VET SERVICE have been wonderful, they have fallen in love with TIMMY and declared him to be their favourite patient, and while they haven't requested that we pay any monies to date, we would like to get payments happening as soon as possible.

TIMMY was born on the 4/12/2007 and came to me as a Valentines Day gift in 2008. I had broken my leg late 2007 and TIMMY was the perfect rehabilitation. We would go for walks up to 3 times a day - this helped me in my recovery and was a great training platform for him. TIMMY loves his walks, especially walking with his friend, Spot, and owner Kathy; TIMMY doesn't mind walking with his (Border Collie brother) Merlot, but always allowing Merlot to take the lead. TIMMY adores going for drives in the car, especially to see Nanna as well as other friends and family - any excuse for a drive. TIMMY loves going on holidays in the caravan and to Wallaroo to see his friend Ari and to walk on the beach. TIMMY is very well behaved, he knows the road rules - not to cross a road without first sitting and checking for cars. He understands what we say to the point where we have to spell some words - backwards. TIMMY always attends Easter and Christmas celebrations (he's always in the family Christmas photo) as well as other extended-family functions.
TIMMY has his quirks - he won't eat unless he gets some milk first and again after eating, he likes his treat after his late night toilet, he puts himself to bed (on our bed), always sleeping near our feet and will tell us to hurry up and join him if we're taking too long. TIMMY will sit in our line of sight if he wants something - if we ignore him,  he will change to a better position until he gets the desired result. He loves his yellow ducky (who is a bit worse for wear now) and his other toys, and likes a 'pillow' for his head. He also loves watching 'cat' videos and will happily sit watching their antics and wondering why he can't join in. TIMMY doesn't like the hose (he hides) but quite likes a bath (still water). TIMMY can be stubborn - he's not food orientated and knows when he's going to the groomer - he refuses to get out of the car - he will also refuse to come inside when it's windy.

TIMMY is our very much loved, special boy - very much a part of our family, involved in what we do and where we go. TIMMY is only 9 years old, always been healthy and being a Maltese Shitzu, he still has many years to go. Please help give TIMMY a chance to survive this current situation so that he can live a long and happy life with those who love him and continue to do the things he loves.

We are a family of four on one wage so our finances are tight at the best of times. This has added a new dimension and we are in unknown territory. We would be ever so grateful for any financial assistance given.

TIMMY was my lifeline when I needed him, we want to be his lifeline now. Please help us to help TIMMY.
