Hi my name is Jocelyn I’m starting a fundraiser for myself my daughter FaithRose and father Richard AKA De’Vance. We lost our home and everything inside it. Our apartment building went up in smokes. I barely escaped with our lives (FaithRose and I). We should of died in our sleep in the bedroom after seeing the damages. On October 19th, 2022 I received a call from my mother at 3am saying my grandfather passed away. Shortly afterwards Richard (baby’s father) left by Lyft to get to work. He starts at 4am. I went outside to wish him a safe trip and then called my brothers. I heard my neighbor below me. (On the first floor) I went down to talk to her. We build a friendship while I was living above her over the years. She’s 71 yrs old. We prayed in tongues together she wanted to get a prayer card afterwards. So I waited outside her door and told her I would be back after getting my daughter out of bed. She was asleep in my bedroom. I changed her diaper and wrapped her in a thick blanket it was really windy that morning. I went back downstairs and was waiting outside her apartment on the phone with my brother; while cradling FaithRose. I walked over to her opened entry doorway and saw her stuck staring at what looked like rolling black smoke on the ceiling and the back wall was lite up like a Christmas tree. A lot of twinkling. I called out to her and she responded. “I think there’s a fire”… with her back facing me. I screamed. “There’s a fire!” I tucked my daughter up under my armpit and told brother. “OMG I have to go NOW!” I disconnected the call. Before I ran inside the apartment there was an explosion. I didn’t think I ran inside and pulled my friend out. After stepping outside the apartment there was 2 more explosions. The door started to close and looked I asked her if her son was inside. He’s in his late thirties. She told me he was. Before I kicked to door in. I could hear him inside curling screaming. I kicked the front door in and thick black smoke was bellowing out. I couldn’t see anything through the black night smoke in the doorway. I couldn’t save him at that moment. I immediately called 911. I was screaming waking everyone up. Screaming Fire/ Get out! I was told by neighbors later that morning that they heard me from our building #2 all the way back to building #12. Mind you there are 3 floors to each building. I ran up and down 3 floors banging on everyone’s doors and windows. Making sure they were buckling when I was banging. I even directed everyone to the parking lot. While some of the residents poked their heads out I ensured the sleepy people that this was not a drill. After counting heads in the parking lot I noticed not all the residence in the building had evacuated. The building was burning at a fast rate. I gave my next door neighbor my 1 year old daughter and asked her to watch my baby. I needed more energy to scale up the burning building. And I needed to be fast enough as well. I had to power through. I went back to those units and began banging on those doors again until I heard the people inside respond they were getting their pets. Only one person the son is currently in critical condition. No lives were lost that morning. My one year old daughter and myself should of died in that fire. I lost everything in that fire and became a hero! First time ever being homeless and with my daughter and baby’s father. I’m scared! Currently we still don’t have a home. We are a family of three who loves each other. I’m just waiting to break down after we finally move into our new apartment. I’m so stressed out. Staying with family seems like it would be an advantage but it’s not. We need to be somewhere fast. If you’re wondering I didn’t consider getting insurance. Deeply regret that. We need help building everything back up. No Furniture, clothes, kitchen ware, bath toiletries, baby toys, baby accessories. We have nothing but the clothes on our backs. Please pray for my family. Because as of November 8th, 2022. We still don’t have anywhere to go. God please don’t keep us without a home for long… I just want to keep my family safe and warm. Thank you poppi for dying to save my life my daughter FaithRose life and my neighbors. You knew by saving my life I would save others without a second thought. I been receiving thank you for saving my life from my neighbors along with I Love You from strangers. HELP US PLEASE!!! $jwalt250
