Help Save the Children of Mbale, Uganda

Donation protected
On the Northern fringe of Mbale city in Eastern Uganda, the families of the peri-urban slum of Namakwekwe struggle to survive. Four out of every five residents live in substandard housing with minimal access to quality education, clean water, sanitation, and waste management. Many families have been displaced from the neighboring rural district of Bududa due to landslides and floods that killed many others.

The children of Namakwekwe face illness, homelessness and trauma on a daily basis. Many are orphaned. Since 2014, they have had one Sanctuary a model school, Parental Childcare, operated by Jeremiah Wepukhulu with the help of a committed board and trained volunteers.
Jeremiah founded Parental Childcare after seeing a video of a child being horribly abused by a housemaid, believing that every child deserves safety, health care and education, Jeremiah has dedicated his life to this cause. The center brings a trauma-informed, warm and caring approach to helping these children believe that they have value and a better life is within reach. Part of the project, still in the planning phase, will reach out to mothers and families with adult education and needed services.

Now the school, which serves 85 vulnerable children, is threatened by the loss of its facility. The property is for sale at a price that Jeremiah and his allies cannot afford, and help is urgently needed. Your donation can help these children hold onto hope.

Breakdown of the cost of 25.000 Euro.
In the age of digitization, it is essential to teach children how to use the internet and computers. In order to be able to prepare them better and appropriately for the future, we need pc's. Seven used pc's with accessories would cost a total of 875 euros.

In order to be able to secure the school with the valuables against burglary and theft, the property has to be renovated. This includes two new doors for 300 euros each and new windows for a total of 400 euros.

In order to create a sense of community, the children need school uniforms. These cost 800 euros for 40 students with two uniforms each. In everyday school life, the children get two meals a day consisting of breakfast and lunch. The cost of the meal for each child each year is 30 euros. A total of 1200 euros per year for all children.

In order to keep the project alive in the long term, it is necessary to buy the plot. The property costs 40,000 euros. In order to get a loan from the bank for this, 20,000 euros of equity must be provided.
