<div>My cousin's wife is a mother of two young daughters, and right now she is bravely fighting a serious form of cancer that is threatening her life. We are asking for your help so she can continue being here to raise her children—and a stem cell transplant offers her a very real and promising chance at recovery.

<div>I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my beloved relative, Rohini Choutee. Rohini lives in Trinidad and Tobago, and I have taken the initiative to create this fundraiser and GoFundMe to help raise the necessary funds for her treatment abroad. We are aiming to raise £50,000 to cover her medical expenses and travel during this difficult time.

<div>Rohini is 43 years old, a loving wife, and the devoted mother of two beautiful daughters, ages 11 and 14. Her children are her entire world, and right now she is fighting with everything she has to remain here for them. Rohini has always lived a healthy and active lifestyle. She enjoys working out, spending time outdoors hiking, and especially baking and crafting for her family and friends. She worked as a substitute secondary school geography teacher and has always been a kind, caring, and hard-working person.

<div>But in December 2024, everything began to change. Rohini became ill with symptoms such as extreme tiredness, fever, coughing, and itchy skin. She visited her doctor and was treated with antibiotics for what appeared to be a virus.

<div>However, in January 2025, the illness returned, this time the symptoms were much worse. While walking up the steps at school, she suddenly experienced shortness of breath, something that was very unusual for her. Her doctor ordered blood tests and a chest X-ray, which she completed privately.

<div>When she returned with the results, her doctor immediately recognized that something was seriously wrong. Her left lung had collapsed and there was fluid in the lung. She was sent straight to the hospital where doctors had to insert a chest tube to drain the fluid from her lung. Due to the seriousness of her condition, Rohini was hospitalized for one month while doctors worked to stabilize her lungs.

<div>A CT scan revealed a large mass inside her left lung measuring 11.5 cm (AP) x 8.1 cm (TS) x 10.2 cm (CC). She was transferred from San Fernando General Hospital to the thoracic unit at Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for further evaluation. After a biopsy in mid-February, the family received devastating news. Just two months before her 42nd birthday, Rohini was diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal Large B-Cell Lymphoma, a serious form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

<div>In April 2025, Rohini began chemotherapy and completed five rounds until August 2025. During her first review in September 2025, although progress was observed , doctors confirmed that the tumor was still present and measured 7.3 cm (AP) x 5.6 cm (TS) x 14.5 cm (CC). She was then required to undergo a more intensive form of chemotherapy, beginning in September 2025.

<div>She completed three additional sessions, each lasting several days at a time. During her second review in January 2026, there was encouraging progress, as the tumor had reduced to 3.9 cm (AP) x 3.2 cm (TS) x 4.8 cm (CC). However, Rohini had now reached a stage where her body could only tolerate two more chemotherapy sessions, as she was nearing the safe limit her body could handle.

<div>One of the mentioned two treatments was completed on 19th March , 2026, with the third review results revealing further tumor reduction to 2.8cm (AP) x 2.5cm (TS) x 4.8cm (CC). Her final chemotherapy treatment is scheduled for May 5th 2026, where the goal of remission is being sought. Throughout this journey, many of the tests and medical investigations had to be done privately, placing a heavy financial burden on her family.

<div>Her husband, Darrell, is currently the only one working, and it has become increasingly difficult to keep up with these expenses. Recently, her haematology team advised that the next and most promising step in her treatment is a stem cell transplant.

<div>Unfortunately, this procedure is not available in Trinidad and Tobago and must be done abroad, making it extremely costly.

<div>As her family, we are reaching out with hope and humility. Rohini is not just a patient—she is a mother who wants to watch her daughters grow, guide them through life, and be there for every important moment ahead.
