Rockyford is a small village an hour NE of Calgary. The curling club has provided 90 years of curling enjoyment to our community, unfortunately when we went to open and prepare our rink this season, we were not able to. There is structural issues to the refrigerated ice surface that needs to be addressed before curling can continue. With a heavy heart the president of the club had to break the news to the community. No curling unless we spend a huge amount of money to fix it.
Randy (president of the curling club) has done an amazing job to get quotes and has determined it will cost $370,000.00to fix it. Since curling is a big part of Canadian history and our little community, it was a no brainer to come up with the funds. That is why we have taken to GO-FUND-ME to help, along with other methods of raising the funds (Grants and fundraisers).
We need our curling rink to offer social & physical activities to develop wellness for our citizens young and old, near and far, at a reasonable price. We need our rink back! A community thrives on public activities and buildings they come in. Please help us bring back our small piece of Canadian history, village history, and social team building.
**If we are unable to raise the $370,000.00, the project will not be able to go-ahead. In which case the funds raised will then be donated the Volunteer Rockyford fire department or can be returned to you. So no matter how big or small the donations are. They will go help our community. But our main goal is to save the curling rink.**
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
The citizens of Rockyford.
