Hi, everyone. We’re reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for help for our sweet 5-year-old cat, Remi (short for Remington James).
We bottle-raised Remi from a tiny kitten, the kind of kitten you could hold in one hand. From the start, she has always been full of personality: sassy, quirky, and affectionate in her own special way. She’s what the internet lovingly calls a “shoulder cat.” If her dad’s around, she’s right there, stretching her paws up to be picked up so she can perch on his shoulder, purring contentedly while we do chores or just walk around the house.
She’s been our constant through the highs and lows — through job changes, tough times, and even a cross-country move as I transitioned out of the military. She’s a big part of our family.
But around two weeks ago, everything changed.
Remi suddenly fell critically ill. After an urgent visit to our local vet (where we spent around $1,200), we were referred to the Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center. She was admitted to the Critical Care Unit on Friday and has been there ever since, battling dangerously high sodium and chloride levels (hypernatremia and hyperchloremia). The veterinary team is working around the clock to stabilize her, but they’re still searching for the underlying cause, and every step forward comes at a steep financial cost.
So far, we’ve spent nearly $5,000 on our CareCredit at OSU. Her care is ongoing, and we're now at a heartbreaking point where continuing diagnostics and treatment depends on how much we can afford, not how much she needs. Right now, they’re trying to get her stable enough to undergo advanced imaging that could finally give us answers. But it’s a race against time and finances.
We’re doing everything we can to keep her with us, but we can't do it alone. We’re asking for any support you can give — whether that’s $5, $50, or simply sharing this campaign with others.
Every dollar goes directly to Remi’s medical care and gives her another chance at recovery. We believe in her strength, and we know she’s fighting hard to stay with us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting Remi.
