Help Save our Indoor Tennis Facility
Please help us save the Only Indoor Tennis Center in all of Eastern Montana(380,000+ Square Miles)!! It is a Beautiful 4 Cushioned Court Facility with locker rooms, Pro shop, etc.
Our indoor tennis center is currently owned and operated by our local Elk's Lodge (BPOE #394). They owe $2+ million for the construction in 2012, with a $1.3 million balloon payment due in January 31, 2020. Due to dwindling membership, the Elk's will not be able to make this upcoming payment and they have been forced to list the entire property including, the Tennis Center, the Elks Lodge, and the 8+ acres it sits on in Midtown Billings, Montana for $3.9 million. They want to sell it all and downsize the Elks Lodge to a new location here in the largest city in Montana.
The Billings Tennis Association, is hoping to raise $3.9 million over the next few months to purchase it. Montana is a state where playing tennis indoors is a 9 month season. Additionally, under the Elk's administration, membership fees and court time costs have been maintained at a reasonable leveL The majority of tennis families in our area can afford to use this facility. We are continuing to provide very active youth and adult lessons, leagues, tournaments, socials, high school team practices, USTA Team trainings etc. We draw from Wyoming and North and South Dakota as well, here on the Tennis Frontier. We anticipate that the cost of using the tennis center will increase dramatically if it is purchased by a private developer, such that only the wealthier members of our community will be able to use it. Our hope is that the Billings Tennis Association will be able to raise enough money to buy the facility outright and operate it as a nonprofit CommunityTennis Center. This would guarantee affordable access to the tennis center year-round. The Billings Tennis Association (Establiished in 1951) would so appreciate any donation that you could make to help us reach this goal.
The Billings Tennis Association is a nonprofit 501-C3 and member organization of United States Tennis Association. We have a long history of Collaborating with Billings Parks & Recreation, MSU Billings, Big Sky State Games, Billings 3 Public High Schools, Billings Central Catholic High School and working with the Montana Tennis Association to provide USTA Sponsored Programs. A lot of Lifetime fun happens here! We have worked hard to make sure. Our community tennis facilities are well maintained through multiple fundraising efforts over the last 7 decades. Our members were instrumental in getting The Elks Tennis Center built and have been the best customers of the Elks Tennis Center. The BTA just received the first “Organization of the Year Award” presented by the Montana Tennis Association.
