Nessie is our 5-year-old Scottish terrier, and she means everything to our family. Her symptoms started suddenly on Friday—she began panting heavily and struggled to go to the bathroom. Her belly looked hard and swollen, so I took her to HUB Veterinary Group in Conroe, TX. After X-rays and an ultrasound, she was diagnosed with a splenic tumor. The vet gave her IV fluids, drained fluid from her abdomen, and started her on pain medication and antibiotics. She’s been at HUB the last two days being kept stable. Tomorrow at 6 am, we will transfer her to Neighborhood Veterinary Centers in Nederland, TX, where Dr. Hansen will perform her emergency surgery.  Nessie isn’t just a dog—she is woven into the deepest parts of our story. She was gifted to me by Christian in July of 2020, right after my first brain surgery. From that moment on, she became more than a companion. She became my healer and my comfort through multiple brain surgeries, vision loss, and some of the darkest valleys of my life. She has comforted my children when I couldn’t be there and stayed by my side when my body was weak. She is truly one of God’s sweetest gifts to us, bringing joy, warmth, and hope to our family.

 Tomorrow morning, Nessie will undergo emergency surgery to remove her spleen and tumor. The costs are overwhelming, and we’ve already spent so much just to keep her stable.
