In 2024, my sister-in-law faced a series of heartbreaking challenges. After a knee replacement surgery went wrong, she lost her job—the only source of income for herself and her autistic adult son. While she was dealing with the pain and uncertainty of her health, she also suffered the loss of her father. On the day of his funeral, she experienced serious heart problems and had to be life flighted to the hospital, adding even more stress and medical complications to her life. She has always been a hard worker and someone who gives to others, but now she finds herself in a situation she never expected. After needing both knees replaced, she has been unable to work and is at risk of losing her home because she cannot pay her back mortgage.
