<div>I was laid off over two years ago and haven’t been able to find steady work to recover. I had a temp role for six months in 2025 that barely sustained me, and recently, a two-month stint somewhere catastrophically toxic. My resources are drained, and it’s not only depleted my bank account but also my self-esteem. I have fallen pretty far behind on rent and utilities, robbing Peter to pay Paul regarding who gets what little scraps I had been able to put together. It seems, at the moment, I am also out of scraps. I have emotional support in my partner, but there is a certain level of low you feel when you can’t obtain anything for yourself or keep your head above water.

I’m also dealing with health issues—both mental and physical—that make daily life stressful and frustrating. Balancing executive function challenges, medication trial and error, and clinical sleep problems has left me with little social energy. If you feel ignored, I’m sorry; I just need a minute. I’ve exhausted nearly every city-based resource except food stamps, and SSDI doesn’t consider me disabled. I’ve truly tried everything to catch up while I look for work.
