<div>This is Mickey — my sweet, perfect boy who has already been through more than any dog should ever have to face. I rescued him during COVID from Animal Lighthouse Rescue in NYC, a group that gives stray dogs from Puerto Rico a second chance at life. From the moment I brought him home, he’s been pure love — gentle, goofy, and adored by everyone who meets him.

<div>Mickey’s start in life wasn’t easy. Puerto Rico is overrun with strays, and before he was rescued, he knew hunger, fear, and uncertainty. But even then, his tail wagged, and his heart stayed open.

<div>Since joining my family, Mickey has battled and beaten cancer twice. He’s a fighter, and I’ve promised him I’ll fight for him, too. <strong>Now, out of nowhere, he needs emergency surgery.</strong> It’s a bill I wasn’t expecting and can’t cover alone, but without it, his future is at risk.

<div>Mickey is still young enough to have so many happy, healthy years ahead — making friends with other dogs, taking long walks, and snuggling up with the people who love him most. He’s given me nothing but unconditional love, and I want to give him the same in return: a chance to keep living the life he deserves.
