Help Save Lorena's Knee

Lorena Bravo needs your help.


This is Lorena. She is my dance partner and my best friend, and one of the most gifted teachers I have ever known. Lorena's students adore her because she is as dedicated to their dancing as she is to her own. She is warm and affectionate, and goes the extra mile to take care of her students. Lorena's passion for dancing and teaching make her such a gift to the dance industry.


But Lorena has a problem: Her knees are giving out on her. Because of genetics and prior injuries, the cartilage in both knees is fractured and worn, causing pain and limited mobility. It turns out cartilage is not an easy thing to replace, and although she has tried various treatments and surgeries, they require too much downtime for an active dance competitor and teacher.


But there is hope. Recently Lorena discovered Body Systems Wellness, a program that will help mitigate the pain and restore lost cartilage, and give her a chance to continue pursuing her passion. It includes injections of stem cells with platelet-rich plasma, as well as weekly physical therapy and other goodies like therapeutic ultrasound and a specialized knee brace to help with tracking of the patella.

The only downside is that her insurance won't pay for it.


I was there when she discovered the program, and I saw how her heart broke when she learned it was out of reach. And so I invite you, Lorena's students, colleagues, family, and friends, to join together and provide her with this gift. She needs this program to stay on her feet, to keep dancing and teaching, and to finally get some relief from the pain she has endured over the last several years.


Lorena still has so much more to give to the dance world through her teaching and her dancing. Let's work together to give back to this beautiful person who gives so much!
