Help Them Reopen and Build a Community Hub

Alchemy & Ashes has been a beloved part of the alternative community in Belfast, whether at local markets or their former shop on the Springfield Road. Due to rising costs, poor footfall, and substantial repairs they couldn’t afford, Sarah and Hugh made the difficult decision to close that location two months ago. However, they had an exciting plan to reopen just around the corner, expanding to include a tattoo studio, an online store, and, most importantly, creating a much-needed community hub. Their vision for the community hub is to provide a welcoming, inclusive space for everyone, especially isolated young people and adults, those with anxiety, or those who are neurodivergent. They’ve poured their hearts and savings into making this dream a reality. Unfortunately, the process has been met with unexpected costs, including rubbish removal, plumbing works, decorating, and DIY. They’ve also faced setbacks in finding a reliable tradesperson, which has slowed progress even further. Most recently, they were hit with an unexpected £1,100 electric bill. This bill was based on an estimated usage of the previous tenants, who ran a busy hairdressing salon. Since taking over the lease, Sarah and Hugh have only used basic lighting and have no equipment in place yet. However, because the previous tenants' bill remained unpaid before they signed the lease, the electric company has cut off the power, preventing any progress. They are also in the process of applying for funding from Belfast City Council, but have yet to receive any of it. In the meantime, bills are piling up, and with no power, they have no way of generating income to support the shop, the tattoo studio, or the future hub. Anyone who knows Sarah and Hugh understands how deeply they care about this community and how passionate they are about creating this hub. They are asking for support to help cover this unexpected cost, so they can get back on track and open the doors to a space that will serve and uplift everyone. Please consider supporting their GoFundMe by donating or sharing. Every bit of help brings them one step closer to reopening and realizing their dream of a community space for all.
