Help Save Lexie

Our Cavalier Spaniel Lexie has been rushed to intensive care in Rosemary Lodge Veterinary Hospital after suffering a severe infection of the uterus, which has spread via her bloodstream to her lungs. She has already had emergency surgery which has removed the infected organ but the infection on her lungs is extremely serious. She now has a hole in her lung which needs to heal and she may need further surgery. The intensive care vet says she is a little fighter and may well pull through, so we are going ahead with treatment.

We are now facing a bill upwards of £4000. Funds will be used towards paying this. I need the money asap, but will be faced with paying this bill off for the next three years.

I was left with Lexie after a relationship breakdown. She was very sick at the time (I think she was puppy farmed) and nearly died in the first week - but she pulled through. She also has a pre-existing heart problem due to her breed. Because of these issues I have been unable to get affordable insurance for her.

Lexie has been the light of my life ever since I got her and I can't bear the thought of life without her. She has been my constant companion through depression and illness of my own and has often been the reason I have got up in the morning.  When she wags her tail I remember that there is something good in the world despite the way it often seems. There is no way I am going to give up on this dog due to financial pressures, even though I am in irregular work and can't afford a massive bill like this.

Any assistance, no matter how small, will be very gratefully received. I would be overwhelmed and delighted to think that someone might have seen this plea for help and wanted to do something to help me try to save my beloved dog.
