Help Save Kenko's Eyes

Hi! We are looking to raise money for our dog Kenko's eye surgery which costs an upwards of $4000. Kenko was recently diagnosed with cataracts that have developed quickly and causing blindness. Kenko cannot see anymore. Today, one of her eye lenses slipped and her eye become swollen and shut. This is a complication of her cataracts which can lead to glaucoma which can cause extreme pain and having to get her eyes removed if left untreated. After we visited the emergency vet today, the vet recommended for us to travel to Saskatoon, an 8-hour drive from where we live in Winnipeg, and have her undergo eye surgery to correct the cataracts and prevent the onset of glaucoma. If we do not have the surgery done soon, she would have to get her eyes removed. They recommended that we have the procedure done as soon as possible. The money we raise would go towards paying the fee of the surgery. Coming up with $3000 immediately was the second thing we worried about, after her well-being. 

There are no veterinary ophthalmologists in Winnipeg, leaving our only option to travel to Saskatoon and have the surgery done there. The other option is leave it untreated, but have her eyes taken out if the complications progress. We fear they will, since the diagnosis of her cataracts and this complication progressed quickly within the last two weeks.

With the surgery, not only would Kenko not be in pain and not lose her eyes, but she would have working eyes and be able to see again! Kenko loves to sit at the window and watch people go by, and find spots where the sun is shining in the house and sun-bathe. We'd love for her to enjoy all her simple enjoyments and loves in life.

Kenko is a 9 year old dog with an incredible amount of energy, love for treats, love for walks, and love for her family and life. We would love to provide her with the quality of life she and all animals and pets deserve: pain and impairment free. Kenko has been with us for a long time, and we hope that she has many more healthy and pain-free years with us. Kenko means the world to our family of 7, and is loved so much by our extended family and friends. We ask humbly for your help and consideration with our predicament, and thank you in advance for your donations, every little bit counts and we greatly appreciate. We need the help, and are hesitant to reach out for donations, but we will do what it takes to get Kenko the help she needs.
