Kathy was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) on Monday, June 12 and admitted into the hospital on Tuesday, June 13. She was hospitalized for five weeks. While in the hospital she had two different infections that had to be dealt with and she also underwent her first round of chemotherapy. She was released from the hospital on July 17. She did her second round of chemotherapy outpatient the following week. During this same time, the process of finding a bone marrow donor was started. She has had multiple blood transfusions and also had to be given platelets several times. A donor has been found and she will be having a bone marrow transplant on or around September 20. She will be having a third round of chemotherapy right before the transplant to knock out the rest of her immune system. Kathy will be hospitalized again for anywhere from 3-4 weeks after the transplant. Once released from the hospital she will be confined to home for 3-4 months. During this time she will have limited contact with people and will need around the clock care. She will also have several medications that will be required.
Kathy Rader was always the first to offer to help others in need and now she needs your help. The cost for the medications and the caregivers will be very great. We are reaching out for any help that can be given and we appreciate any amount that you are able to donate to help cover these costs.
God has been kind and gracious toward my mom, Kathy Rader, and has worked a miracle in her life so far. We continue to ask all of our family and friends to pray for her and we thank you so very much for taking the time to read this campaign for our beloved mom, wife and sister.
