Help Save My Father

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

This page is for my father, John.

Two years ago, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  When we first found out, it was shocking, but not nearly as shocking as watching it take control of him over the years has been.

My father has always been a hard working individual, with a heart of pure gold.  My earliest memories of him involve him building my sisters and I a tree house, building me a go-kart or a motorcycle, or working to provide for my family with the A/C company that he started many years ago, which was quite strenuous labor.

Two years into the treatment for cancer, my dad can barely walk on his own anymore.  It has been very difficult to watch him lose his ability to do virtually everything he loves to do.  Even with these handicaps, he still comes over to the house to fix our A/C when it breaks.  While his body has lost it’s strength, his heart has not grown weak whatsoever.

When Hurricane Irma hit, we put my father in a hospital for as a precaution as we were in the evacuation zone and if 911 needed to be called for him, there would be no first responders able to make it to the home to help.  While he was in the hospital, my father became quickly confused and delirious, it was obvious something was not right.

Being that he has been through all types of treatment, the chemo-therapy he is currently on is extremely strong, and therefore hightened the ammonia in his body astronomically, which is what caused the delirium.  We took him home for a couple of days after they lowered the levels, but found ourselves back two days later for the exact same thing.

This time, the doctors explained to us that the cancer had spread to his liver which is causing it to fail, and due to this, he cannot receive any further treatment as it is too dangerous now.   At this time, we are out of options.  We have exhausted every resource, it truly seems we have hit a dead end.

My father is being transferred back to our home, but at most, we will only be able to make him comfortable and spend time with him.

After some research and a few phone calls, my brother was able to obtain information from a medical Marijuana treatment professional who thoroughly explained that this does not have to be the end of the fight, and that there have been many success stories with people who are in even worse condition than my father currently is.  They have provided us with a treatment plan and is willing to help us get the medicine, but the downside is that it’s extremely costly.

We are not ready to give up the fight, and I promise you that my father is not either.  With the breakthroughs in the Medical Marijuana industry, and all options exhausted,  we feel that we would not be giving it our all if we did not try this method of treatment.  It is our last hope.

We, as a family, are making this GoFundMe to share our story and ask for your help in this fight.  All donations will go to the treatment of my father, and other services for him.  In the event that there are remaining funds, we will pass it on to another in need.

Anything helps, including a share or a prayer.  Please help save my father’s life.
