<div>A few weeks ago, Happy began having trouble urinating. We took her to the vet thinking it was something minor, but the tests revealed something unexpected — she had a foreign object inside her bladder, likely a consequence of a previous surgery she underwent a year ago to treat a severe uterine infection (pyometra).

<div>She had to undergo another surgery to remove that foreign object. Unfortunately, after the procedure, Happy’s condition started to worsen. The doctors discovered she was developing kidney failure, as her left kidney had become severely damaged. On top of that, due to prolonged medication use, she developed a stomach ulcer, which caused internal bleeding and additional complications.

<div>Right now, Happy is hospitalized at the University of Florida Veterinary Hospital, where a dedicated team of specialists is doing everything possible to stabilize her and save her life. Despite all the pain, she keeps fighting — wagging her tail, recognizing me, and giving me hope every single day ❤️.

<div>So far, her medical bills have exceeded $20,000, and she still needs another surgery to remove the damaged kidney and give her a chance to live a comfortable, pain-free life.

<div>I’ve done everything I can to keep up with the costs, but I’ve reached my limit. That’s why I’m reaching out to this community with humility and hope.

<div>Hola, mi nombre es Jennifer , y quiero compartir la historia de Happy, mi compañera fiel desde el día en que nació hace 9 años.

Hace unas semanas, Happy comenzó a tener problemas para orinar. La llevamos al veterinario pensando que sería algo leve, pero los exámenes revelaron algo inesperado: tenía un cuerpo extraño dentro de la vejiga, probablemente una consecuencia de una cirugía anterior que le realizaron hace un año por una piometra en los ovarios.

Fue necesario someterla a una nueva cirugía para extraer ese cuerpo extraño. Lamentablemente, después de la operación, Happy empezó a empeorar rápidamente. Los médicos descubrieron que estaba desarrollando una insuficiencia renal, ya que su riñón izquierdo había quedado severamente dañado. Además, debido al uso prolongado de medicamentos, le apareció una úlcera en el estómago que le causó sangrados internos y más complicaciones.

Actualmente, Happy está hospitalizada en el University of Florida Veterinary Hospital, donde un equipo de especialistas está haciendo todo lo posible por estabilizarla y salvar su vida. A pesar de todo, ella sigue mostrando su fortaleza: mueve la cola, me reconoce, y me da esperanza cada día ❤️.

Hasta ahora los gastos médicos han superado los $20,000, y aún falta una cirugía más para extirpar el riñón dañado y permitirle tener una vida digna y sin dolor.
Estoy haciendo todo lo posible, pero ya no puedo cubrir más por mi cuenta. Por eso recurro a esta comunidad con humildad y esperanza.
