Help save Erikha’s life

On September 8th, 2017 this beautiful young lady received genetic test results indicating that she has a deadly mutatation of her BRCA1 gene. That means that she has an 80% chance of developing breast cancer and a 60% chance of developing uterine or ovarian cancer. Terrible as this news was, it was not a surprise since Erikha’s mother was diagnosed with uterine and ovarian cancer at age 35 and passed away at age 39.

Erikha, now 30 years old, made the courageous decision to undergo preventative surgery to reduce her risk to baseline levels—surgical removal of most of her breast tissue, as well as her ovaries, uterus, and fallopian tubes. Her first surgery, a bilateral mastectomy, is scheduled for November 30th, 2017. Her insurance company is covering most of the costs—many thousands of dollars—but her deductible must be paid up front before she can undergo these potentially life-saving procedures. We both work full-time, but on such short notice we cannot afford this cost and the costs of her time away from work (6 weeks) out of pocket.
