The Pavilion is home to Crondall's Cricket and Bowls Club and we are seeking funds to refurbish the 50+ year old building by replacing the deteriorating external wooden cladding and supporting timber which are showing their age!.
The Pavilion houses a large room used to host meetings, social events and the traditional “teas” for visiting teams, two kitchens, two changing rooms, showers plus ladies and gents toilet facilities.
One of the walls of the Pavilion has now started to sag, indicating that parts of the wooden framework have started to rot and will need to be replaced when the cladding is removed. The internal walls that are plasterboard and fastened to the framework will also need to be replaced.
The need is urgent to enable both clubs to continue to provide sporting opportunities to the local community.
Both clubs are committed to raise funds towards the cost of the required refurbishment, but there is a significant shortfall due to the amount of work that needs to be done to keep the building running as a safe environment where members can enjoy their favourite sport.
The total cost for refurbishment is estimated at £30,000
The Clubs currently have a membership of around 100 who benefit from using the Pavilion, with at least a further 200 from visiting teams from local towns in Hampshire and Surrey.
For many years the Cricket Club has had close relationships with Farnham Cricket Club. As part of this relationship, Hook Meadow and the Pavilion is used for many cricket games and coaching for young boys and girls from the age of 8.
The Bowls Club supports the Visually Impaired Bowling Association (VIBA) and has two members with sight impairment.
Recently the Bowls Club introduced Short Mat bowls in the large room so members can continue bowling through the winter season. in addition the Bowls Club offers bowling opportunities to the local U3A throughout the year.
We are seeking help, big or small, to complete the refurbishment works on the Pavilion and to help keep both clubs running for its current and future members and continue to provide the community with recreational opportunities!
