Creative IQ has started a GoFundMe campaign to help survive the financial impact of the shutdown. Your contribution could make the difference in Creative IQ’s ability to remain an artistic hub for our community. Your help will enable us to continue to provide jobs for teaching artists, a venue to support local artists, and a safe, friendly, creative environment for the people of our community.
Small businesses, like ours, have been devastated by the COVID-19 shutdown. Like most small businesses, our monthly income has fallen to zero, while many of our business expenditures have largely remained the same. We’re now nearing our beloved Summer Camp, a time of year that is important to our students, but also incredibly important to our business. As the busiest time of our year, the money earned from Summer Camp helps keep Creative IQ going through the slower months.
While it is still too early to know, we are holding out hope we will be able to host all or part of this year’s on-site Summer Camp and Summer classes. We will keep you posted as soon as we know. In the meantime, we need to plan for the worst-case scenario. With this GoFundMe, we’re seeking coverage to ensure that we can survive a summer in the event that we are unable to operate. While our cancelation policy allows customers to take rainchecks, we understand that many in our community are dealing with the same financial hardships we are. An onslaught of refunds could effectively put Creative IQ out of business, but we are happy to work with customers with no other options. Otherwise, we hope our customers will exercise their right to raincheck and support us in this difficult time.
I founded Creative IQ as a labor of love to provide quality art education to students of all ages, support local artists and art teachers, and add value to our community. I have worked to uplift our community by collaborating with local non-profits (like the Richmond Neighborhood Center), local schools (like Lafayette Elementary School), and other merchants (as the president of the Balboa Village Merchants Association). My goal is to remain a vital part of our amazing community as a small business owner, art teacher and community leader.
If you are able, please consider donating to help save Creative IQ. Your help will give Creative IQ a better chance of survival.
Your family’s safety is our number one priority. As soon as we get word that we can safely do so, we will re-open the Creative IQ Art Studio on Balboa Street. We will notify you when we do re-open, and we look forward to seeing you! Until then, while our storefront is closed, we hope to see you in some of our upcoming online art classes and camps that will be launching in May!
I hope you and your loved ones are well. I am truly missing all of my students and the creative hustle and bustle at the art studio. My students and the Creative IQ community are like family to me!
Wishing you and your family health and happiness. I look forward to seeing all of my students smiling faces either online or in-person soon!
Thank you for your consideration and for any assistance you can extend.
and the CIQ Team
