Help Save Cash The Wolfdog

Cash is a 40%, 1 year young wolf dog that was originally sold to a family in a legal area of Oregon for wolf dogs. This family did not have wolf dog experience and did not socialize Cash with humans other than those of the immediate family, nor did they vaccinate, potty train, crate train, or spay her. On top of this, they did not understand the vital importance of a high protein diet required by wolf dogs and fed her kibble. Due to this, Cash was deprived of necessary nutrients for her body to grow properly and because of malnutrition, Cash is currently very small and underweight.
When the family moved to a new house after getting Cash, they moved to a non-legal area in Washington for wolf dogs (legal status of wolf dog ownership is dictated on both the state and county levels). Without a proper enclosure, Cash was able to get out and roam the neighborhood. The family did nothing to remedy this situation even though their other dog had a history of getting into fights with other dogs. Because the enclosure issue was not addressed, Cash and the other dog were able to get out and a fight with a neighbor’s dog resulted. Although Cash was present at the fight, it is believed that the other dog with the fight history was the one to instigate the fight. Animal control was made aware of the situation and informed the family that if they were not able to re-home both animals, they would be euthanized.
Cash is currently in a temporary, short term foster house, so she is safe from being euthanized, but is in desperate need of a forever home that has wolf dog experience and is capable of not only building her a proper enclosure, but is also able, willing and dedicated to rehabilitating her. Because Cash was never socialized, she has EXTREME fear and anxiety of humans.
This is where this Go Fund Me comes into play. I am Ashley and my boyfriend is Jonathan. You can get to know us through our Instagram account, which is focused on our wolf dogs and wolf dog education. We both have extensive wolf dog experience and want to help save this little girl who is a victim of, presumably a well-meaning family, but non the less, a family that did not understand what they were getting into by purchasing a wolf dog. They did not provide Cash with the time, care and physical safeguards required for a wolf dog. Cash is now in limbo and needing a proper home with people that not only have wolf dog experience but also have the time experience and patience to build a bond with her and rehabilitate her into a trusting and non-fearful animal, which she deserves to be. It is no life for an animal to live in a constant state of fear. Cash deserves to feel safe, well taken care of and above all loved. Jonathan and I both work from home, which puts us in the perfect situation to give Cash the time and attention she needs. We live on 5 acres back in the woods in a wolf dog legal area. We also have relatives of Cash, her aunt as well as 2 of her cousins, which will help her in her rehabilitation. Because wolf dogs are pack animals and have such deep bonds with their pack members, they learn from each other. So, by Cash seeing her aunt and cousins interact with us and us being loving with them, Cash will learn to trust. Our pack members will help to coax Cash out of her fearful shell and into a confident and beautiful wolf dog.
We need your help though. Taking Cash in will require a new rehabilitation enclosure to be built as well as basic gear a wolf dog requires such as a leash, collar, water bowl etc. On top of these expenses, Cash will need to be vaccinated and spayed. We have made a list of everything we will need to be able to rescue Cash. You can find the detailed list below.
We are so deeply grateful to everyone who feels a call to help this girl get into her forever home with us by donating to this cause. We not only want to give her a loving home, but we want her to be an ambassador for the plight of wolf dogs worldwide, because unfortunately, this story is told so many times every year, just with different wolf dogs being the “star” of the story. Jonathan and I both want to record this story and the rehabilitation process it takes to heal a fearful wolf dog in hopes to shed light on these animals and just how important it is to fully understand the work it takes to properly care for a wolf dog. We want to share her progress through our Instagram account as well as start a YouTube channel documenting her progress, so all of you who chose to help can be a part of Cash’s healing process and celebrate with us in her progress. We truly love these animals and deeply want to help Cash and, in the process, hopefully, help minimize cases like this from happening to other wolf dogs in the future.
Note on funds raised:
We have never asked for money before, so this is a new experience for us. With this process we want to be as transparent as possible. All funds raised by this Go Fund Me will go directly to the care of Cash. If we end up raising more than the goal amount, those funds will be set aside and used JUST for the care of Cash, ie, food costs, future vet bills, toys, etc. We will also post receipts of items purchased to either our Instagram account, or our website, so everyone can see exactly where their donations are going. We already visited a local farm supply store to tally up the costs of everything we need for Cash. Below is that list.
