2020 started for us with excitement, hope, and full of dreams for what this year would bring. 2020, the year we would strike out on our own as a small business. A business built from love and passion, and based on community support as well as supporting our local producers. 6 weeks ago, Covid-19 made it clear that it would change that perception for an undetermined amount of time.
As the weeks go by, and new governmental measures are announced, we realize that we will slip through many of the cracks. Too small, and not in business long enough, make us unable to receive help from the government programs.
As we listen closely to what the new normal will look like, business as usual may take quite some time to return.
We are working hard to reorganize how we offer our services, and putting a plan in place. We have seen all events scheduled for the upcoming summer now postponed, on hold, or cancelled and all deposits returned. It's a scary time to say the least.
As we geared up for this summer, we decided to use a Ghost kitchen, where all production and preparation would take place. With this, now comes the scramble to cover those costs as the money saved starts running out. Rent (which includes utilities & internet), Insurances, permits, and equipment payments are adding up heavily as we hit May 1st. Our new landlord is aware and understanding of this situation, however we also know patience has its limits as well, and we need to take care of them also.
The past 4 weeks have been filled with uncertainty, frustration, and stress as many are also feeling. We were raised to find a way, find solutions, make it work, be strong, and asking for help was always the hardest one.
As a last resort, I am hoping this campaign will help us find our way back to that dream, even if it may look different in the way we deliver that service for a while. That we come out the other side of this stronger and possibly even offering a much more diverse range of products to our community, while using the products locally available.
As a Thank You to anyone who donates to help us through this, we will be firing up Bertha and delivering some tasty smoked Ribs. We are committed to continue helping make your weddings, parties, and gatherings the best they can be, once on the other side of this Covid black cloud!!
